BUREL wool (820gr/m) from Portugal (mountainous region of Serra da Estrela).
Made from pure virgin sheep's wool, durable and very resistant, this wool was used in the past by shepherds to make warm and waterproof cloaks that were very useful for the harsh climatic conditions of the mountains of Northern Portugal.
The authenticity of BUREL is the result of a specific sequence of operations in the manufacturing process.
The wool after being sheared, washed, spun, warped in the organ and woven on the loom, walked on a machine called fuller, beating and scald wool transforming the fabric (sees) in the bag, which makes it tighter, harder and waterproof.
