Double Helix focuses on the waist and back sections of the hide, where the most characterful grain naturally occurs. After a slow vegetable tanning process, the leather is soaked and dried until it shrinks to approximately half its original size, resulting in a substantial 2.0mm thick horsehide that feels remarkably soft from the outset. Finished with oils and waxes rather than pigments or surface coatings, the leather develops a rich lustre and subtle variations in tone as it ages, without requiring the lengthy break in typically associated with heavyweight horsehide.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEvery panel of the Falconer has been positioned with intention.
