The fabric itself is made using short-staple cotton fibers (27mm or less) for the warp, producing a distinctive neppy texture. The weft is spun with the traditional Gara-bo method, giving a hand-spun feel and airy character that sets this denim apart. Rope-dyed in pure indigo, the denim develops high-contrast fades with wear. Woven on a 1950s Toyoda GL8 loom at low tension, the result is a dense yet textured hand that ages beautifully.
