Studio d'Artisan D4547U Sashiko Boro Jacket
Traditionally in Japan, cotton fabrics were considered an indispensable commodity. Kimonos were not always seen as simply a statement, reserved for special occasions. Historically, Kimono were worn every day through harsh Winters and scorching Summers. As such, clothing was re-used repeatedly and never thrown away. Even when completely worn out, fabrics were carefully stitched and patched back together.
Seeking to recreate the beautiful and intricate patchwork patterns seen in the past, Studio D’Artisan has created their latest “Sashiko Denim” collection. A clash of two worlds, the Osaka OG's have built from the ground up a unique jacquard weave Denim which expresses the distinct texture of Sashiko garments. Using a combination of No. 6 warp yarns and No. 5 weft yarns, the fabric itself is milled on a specially calibrated Jacquard loom in order to replicate Sashiko stitchwork.
