Buzz Rickson's Field Coat M-65 “Buzz Ricksson MFG.Co. – Olive Drab (BR11702)
A reproduction of the M-65 field jacket adopted by the U.S. Army in the early 1960s.
The M-65, which reigns as the ultimate field jacket, has evolved from the previous models, the M-43 and M-51, with many improvements. In the early 1960s, the U.S. Army planned to update its combat uniforms, leading to the development of a new model, the M-65, a field jacket. The material used is cotton satin backing (back satin), and the basic design follows the previous model, but there are differences in the details. The collar is rounded and has a built-in hood. The cuffs have been changed from button-type to adjustable with Velcro tape, and a fold-over has been added to protect the cuffs. The waist is fitted with a draw cord to fit the body and keep it warm. As the M-65 became more functional, it continued to be adopted, and in 1980 a camouflaged version with a Woodland pattern was adopted.
