The design of Double Helix's Hugging The Curve is reminiscent of sport jackets from the 1930's, a decade when motorcycle riders began embracing leather jackets for their durability and protection from the elements. The jacket features all the classic details you'd expect from a jacket of this time period: gentle taper from chest to waist, heavy duty Waldes zippers, snap faster on the cuff, and a beautiful tweed lining. The jacket is built from a veg-tan, semi-aniline teacore horsehide that will patina and wear away to a deep brown color.

"Semi Aniline Tea Core Horsehide

Horsehide with a brown core, which is often used for riders jackets, is a leather that is not dyed to the core, so the tea core will appear on the surface as it ages.When we dye just the surface of the black, we must add pigment to the lacquer, otherwise it will look brown. However, if we add too much pigment, you tend to end up with a pale black that lacks transparency and shows a whitish tint on the surface. In order to create a sense of transparency, We carefully selects the raw leather and adds a minimum amount of pigment to create a supple black of tea core leather for Double Helix. If you add even a small amount of pigment, technically speaking, it will not be an aniline finish, but a semi-aniline finish. This is written as Semi Aniline in Double Helix."
